Cloud Storage uses buckets, which you can think of as separate storage locations. When you copy a file to Cloud Storage, you must specify a bucket as the target location. For example:

In addition to copying files, you can create a transfer service. With this, you set up monitoring in one location, and when new files appear in that location, they are copied to your bucket. This can be done from the console as well as programmatically. There are a number of options, so I recommend looking for the relevant documentation here.

Access control is available at both the bucket and object level. By default, when you upload files to your bucket, they are not readable outside of Cloud Storage. You can login from the dashboard as shown below.

Cloud Storage makes for a very convenient CDN (content delivery network). You can place your files here and your web applications can easily access them. Remember the access control features of Cloud Storage. This will allow you to give your users permission to save and retrieve files.

Cloud Storage comes with a storage class concept that you choose when you create a bucket. Here’s a closer look at what they are.

The multi-region is where you will store files for use by your applications that are public. The region is best for indoor jobs that require storage. Nearline is for backups. Coldline is for disaster recovery, mostly data you won’t touch but need to keep when regulators demand it. The storage value decreases from left to right as shown below.

Data access from multi-region and regional buckets is free. Retrieving from Nearline costs some money and retrieving from Coldline costs more. Google Cloud Services is a set of computing, networking, storage, big data, machine learning, and management services offered by Google that run on the same cloud infrastructure that Google uses. for internal YouTube, Gmail and other end-user products.

Compute Engine is an unmanaged Google Cloud computing service. It is an IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) service that provides virtual machines (VMs) hosted on Google’s infrastructure. Users can perform many tasks after building a computing engine, such as:

App Engine is Google Cloud’s PaaS (Platform as a Service) offering used to build scalable web applications and IoT backends. It automatically scales applications depending on the traffic received. It provides users with built-in services and APIs such as Datastores, NoSQL and user authentication API.

It is a feature-as-a-service (FaaS) offering that provides a serverless execution environment for building and enabling cloud services. It is an event-driven, asynchronous computing solution that allows users to create microservices (small, single-purpose functions) that respond to cloud events without the need for a distinctly managed server or runtime environment. It can be written using JavaScript, Python 3, Go or Java.

It is a robust cluster manager and a balanced system for running Docker containers. Kubernetes Engine schedules your containers into the cluster, keeps them healthy, and manages them automatically based on user-defined requirements.

The Container Registry is a private Docker repository for managing Docker Images and works with popular continuous delivery systems. Customers can control who can access what through granular access control.

Cloud Storage is an object storage service on Google Cloud. An object is immutable data consisting of a file of any format. These objects are stored in containers called buckets. All buckets are associated with a project, and you can group your projects under an organization. It is similar to an S3 bucket in AWS.

It is a fully managed database service that allows the user to create, configure, use and manage relational MySQL and PostgreSQL databases in the cloud.

Cloud Bigtable is a high performance NoSQL Big Data database service designed to support very large workloads with consistent low latency and high throughput speeds. It seamlessly integrates with popular Big Data tools like Hadoop and Spark and supports the open-source, industry-standard HBase API. Google uses Bigtable for internal services, including Google Search and Gmail.

Introduction To Google Cloud Storage

It’s a NoSQL database that stores data in JSON documents (similar to MongoDB) that are automatically indexed so you can query individual attributes. It provides an elastic, highly available document-based database as a service. It can store terabytes of data.

It is a service that provides SSD and HDD storage that can be attached to instances running on either Compute Engine or Container Engine.

Cloud Spanner is a managed globally distributed relational database with ACID transactions, strong consistency, SQL semantics, horizontal scaling, and high availability features.

Networking is one of the most important and fundamental aspects of Google Cloud Platform services. These services help users load traffic between resources, create DNS records, and connect their existing network to Google’s network. The types of network services available are as follows:

Google Cloud Storage Integration

It provides a set of network services used by VM instances. It provides a private network with IP allocation, routing and network firewall policies to create a secure environment for deployment. Every VPC project has a default network. Users can create additional networks in their projects, but networks cannot be shared between projects.

It is the process of distributing workloads across multiple computing resources. Load balancing helps applications scale according to user requirements by balancing the load on compute resources across one or more regions. This reduces resource cost and maximizes availability.

Cloud DNS is a scalable, reliable and managed authoritative DNS service running on the same infrastructure as Google. It translates domain name queries to IP addresses and offers a UI, command-line interface, and API for publishing and managing multiple DNS zones and resource records. It has low latency, high availability and is cost effective.

A CDN is a geographically distributed network consisting of proxy servers and their data centers. The network uses Google’s globally distributed edge caches to accelerate content delivery for websites and applications served from Google Compute Engine.

Cloud Interconnect allows Cloud platform customers to connect to Google through enterprise-grade connections with higher availability and lower latency than their existing Internet connections.
