Vmware Cloud On Aws – VMware Cloud on AWS is an out-of-the-box service that allows you to run VMware SDDC in the AWS cloud. This feature is available across Megaport Global Application Settings (SDN).

VMware Cloud on AWS offers a number of benefits, including the ability to adopt a slower approach and lower risk for cloud adoption. You can leverage existing on-premises infrastructure with cloud resources for growth. This solution curbs the need for new capital expenditures on equipment while providing the ability to grow and / or reduce workloads in the cloud. It also allows you to take full advantage of your existing tools and infrastructure while still being productive and usable if you are thinking about a complete migration eventually to the cloud.

AWS has redesigned its physical data center to streamline the VMware infrastructure. VMware software is implemented directly on AWS bare metal. Help and management functions such as patches and software updates are implemented by VMware, while physical device management is managed by AWS. You administer your VM and you have transferred access to vSphere.

Using Megaport as your Network-as-a-Service Provider, you can deploy Virtual Interfaces (VIFs) to AWS Direct Connect for VMware deployment from the on-premises data center infrastructure.

When deploying vMotion between a VMkernel source and a destination, a minimum bandwidth of 250 Mbps is required, with a maximum latency of 150 ms. See vSphere vMotion Networking Requirements for more information.

When logging in, you need to create a new SDDC with information such as AWS account, network management IPs (when you submit IP blocks, they can not be changed / updated), the number of hosts (minimum four required for the original installation to Maximum 32 per cluster and you can have 10 clusters per SDDC) and AWS area for the solution along with the available area.

If you are already a Megaport subscriber with an established physical port, simply add the new VXC through your Megaport account to the VMware Cloud on AWS that you created during the initial installation process. You use the same AWS account ID that you used during the installation process. You can create a new port if you want to separate this solution from your existing traffic passing through your port or just request this port in a different location.

You can see the paths promoted from the VMware Cloud SDDC to your location from the BGP Routes section advertised on the console and the paths received from their location on the Learned BGP Routes section. The maximum number of logical network paths that can be deployed from the VMware Cloud SDDC into the premises is 16 (VMware can increase this limit).

You can achieve the same redundancy for the connection part for this solution by creating additional VXCs to the AWS environment. You can achieve more anomalies by implementing VXCs on separate ports.

VMware Cloud on allows you to transfer VMware workloads to data centers defined by VMware-managed software (SDDC) running in the Cloud and expand the data center in your premises without having to re-program or repair software.

You can use native services with virtual machines (VMs) in SDDC to reduce operating costs and reduce your total cost of ownership (TCO) while increasing your agility and workload.

The simplest way to get started is to use the services in the connected Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) selected during the SDDC deployment process. Figure 1 shows this connection, which is automatically configured and available when SDDC is deployed.

The SDDC Elastic Network Interface (ENI) allows you to connect to the original service in the connected VPC, but it does not provide forwarding beyond the connected VPC. For example, it will not connect SDDC to other VPCs and the Internet.

If you are looking for a connection to the original service in multiple accounts and a VPC in the same area, you have two connection options. These are explained in the following sections.

When you need an advanced cross-connection in a multi-VPC environment, use VMware Transit Connect (VTGW) as shown in Figure 2.

VTGW uses VMware-controlled ports to connect interactive SDDCs within the SDDC group. It also allows you to connect your VPC in the same area to the VTGW, providing a connection to any SDDC in the SDDC group.

To connect to your VPCs through the existing Transit Gateway in your account, use the IPsec virtual private network (VPN) connection from SDDC with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routing as shown in Figure 3. Multiple IPsec tunnels to the Transit Gateway use equal-value multi-lane routing, which increases bandwidth through load-balancing traffic.
